Hi, my name is Larhysa, I'm a self taught baker and the founder of Basically Cakes. I have a mixed heritage; Indo- Caribbean & Mauiritian which means I grew up with a multitude of flavours around me, especially when it came to desserts!

My family have always LOVED the sweeter things in life! So when I was little my gifts to family were always home baked goodies; which is something, to this day I put all my love, heart and soul into. As I grew up my passion for baking grew and my sweet gifts extended to friends, family friends and colleagues. I saw how happy my cakes made the people around me and that inspired me to hone in on my skills and keep baking.

 

My background in the Performing Arts is what further influenced me to get involved with cake design; the creativity and endless possibilities that go into creating a custom made cake fascinated me. This led to me wanting to open my own little bakery... so here I am!

 

I've always wanted to spread happiness and I found that making sweet treats was a great way to do just that. This led to me building my small business: Basically Cakes... so the people around me can have a taste of happiness in each bite they take.
